Spring is a time for new beginnings. As the weather warms up, it’s definitely tempting to try and escape the space you were stuck in all winter. But now is a better time than ever to clear out your clutter and make your home more comfortable. Even if you don’t do a deep clean, any form of spring cleaning is helpful. Today we’re going to be sharing some tips on spring cleaning!

If you’re thinking in terms of your entire home, the task of spring cleaning can be daunting. But it doesn’t have to be that way! Start cleaning room by room. Even if you dedicate one day or a full week to the same area, taking it one at a time will help you feel less overwhelmed and improve your outcome.

Start with whatever space gives you the most anxiety. Do you have a closet that desperately needs to be decluttered? Are you embarrassed to host company in your living room? Do you have one too many casserole dishes in your cabinet? Make a list of highest to lowest priorities. Then, slowly start making your way through the house.

When doing this, it’s also important to remember the things that don’t always get cleaned. This could be baseboards, garbage cans, washer and dryer, or even the walls themselves! We may not notice how dirty these things can get, but you’ll definitely notice the difference once they’re clean.

When decluttering, it can help to organize your things into three piles—keep, donate, or trash. This will help make the process simpler, thus more effective. It’s important to be almost harsh when doing this. If you have a shirt that has sentimental value, but is only taking up space in your closet, it may be time to let it go. If it can be worn again, donate it or give it to a friend or family member! There’s no sense in holding onto something that is no longer of use to you.

With little air flow throughout the colder months, it’s likely that the air inside your home is stagnant. So, let some fresh air in! Open your windows and get it flowing. While doing this, take the time to clean the blinds and window sills, something that can be overlooked when cleaning on an ordinary day.

Take a moment to sit in your freshly cleaned house and just enjoy it. Life can become chaotic, so it’s important for us to enjoy the few moments of peace we’re granted. Especially when we’re the ones that created them.
